The Black Wolf-class light cruiser was a classification of medium tonnage, capital grade, space-faring light escort cruisers beginning service with the United Nations Space Command Navy during the mass rearmament of the early 2570s. It was far from a mainline class with only fifty ships of the line built, but nonetheless, it was more than capable of fending for itself in both direct combat and orbital/deep space support operations.
Additionally, a number of Black Wolf cruisers were designated field test vessels, many of which fell under the command of the Advanced Warfare Fleet.
