The Director of Strategic Intelligence is the senior commander of the UNSC Department of Strategic Intelligence, responsible for its actions, organization, and preparedness.
The UNSC Department of Strategic Intelligence, in its original iteration as of its conception in 2554, was originally a one-star command led by a Navy Commodore or an Army Brigadier General (O-7). Within forty years, Ackerson's original prowess with the newborn department and its successes with subsequent commanders would catapult it to a full three-star Navy command directed by a Vice Admiral (O-9).
The Director of Strategic Intelligence is answerable to the Director of Naval Intelligence, who is typically a four-star Admiral by stature.
