Emergency Gelatin Capsule, commonly referred by UNSC Marines as the Gel-Drop and by ONI as UNSC Weapon Ref.#31 (Gel-Drop), is a component for UNSC Body Suits worn by the ODSTs. It is a greenish semi-liquid in a form of a capsule which is designed to provide a soft landing from high above.
[edit] Summary
Generally beneficial yet a one-use-only device, the gear would allow the wearer to land softly on the surface from high above (Hard Drop, Pelican Insertion, etc). The gear would be able to release a 2 metres wide gelatin designed to prevent the user from touching the surface. After 10 seconds of dispersal, the gelatin would disappear, leaving no trace of the user's landing zone.
[edit] Other Purpose
One of the Emergency Gelatin Capsule's main purposes is is to regulate the wearer's shape and body temperature, keeping the wearer from getting too hot or cold. The Gelatin have the ability to be pressurized to various levels, allowing it's wearer an amount of cushioning during hard impacts.
[edit] Operational History
It was firstly used in the Spartan-Is training before they ended their aerial training. The Gelatin was later proposed for an armour originally planned for the ORIONs but ONI decided another Program were to be made to test the prototype armour. Later revised and redesigned by UNSC Dr. Catherine Halsey, the Gelatin was later fitted in the MJOLNIR armour which helped maintain the similar qualities as the previous models.
The Gelatin was also made into small capsules for Special Forces to allow an easier insertion without having a SOIEV Entry or a Pelican Drop Off zone.
