"I served the will of the Hierarchs, and the will of the Forerunners. In their names, I cut down the enemies of the Covenant. Heretic, traitor, Parasite, and human. In this new Age, my brothers will serve through choice, not force."
―Garz

Garz 'Urtelken was a Sangheili male born on the Covenant world of Blessed Bounty. On entering military service, he would participate in multiple skirmishes and battles against pirates and raiders on the borders of covenant space, before being drawn into the war against Humanity. Fighting in some of the earliest conflict with the aliens, he would slowly rise through the ranks over the course of the war, before gaining the rank of Evocati.

By 2551, Garz would leave military service, seeing it as a waste of his people's talents. Forming his own warrior guild under the banner "Fied's Blades", he would lead this mercenary group for the remaining months of the war, lending their blades to various planetary Governors. Ultimately, they would be approached by members of the Banished, who offered them a place in the larger organization as one of its many legions, and Garz the position of Warlord, to which the Evocati agreed.

Early Life[]

Born in the 23rd Age of Doubt as the eldest son of Par 'Urtelkenee, a veteran of the Unggoy Rebellion and the Purification of Cherished Memory, much was expected of the young Garz from his family. Both his uncle and father would train the boy in various ways of combat, espousing the common idea that the Sangheili were the chosen warriors of the Forerunners themselves. On becoming of eligible age to begin training he would tutor under his uncle, learning countless forms of hand-to-hand combat and knowledge of weapons.

Covenant Military Service[]

By 2510, Garz had entered the Covenant military within the fleet of Pious Absolution, under the service of the Ministry of Resolution. His first combat experiences tasked him with helping to root out a group of pirate enclaves, led by a Jiralhanae Chieftain that had been preying on a frontier colony. These battles would season to enough to where, by the beginning of the war against the species known as humanity, he was already an Officer.

Battle of Harvest[]

As with many young Sangheili males at the dawn of the 9th Age of Reclaimation, Garz was deployed to the human colony world known as Harvest, on the onset of the war in 2525. Over the following five years of combat for the planet, he would grow to grant his enemy a modicum of respect, though holding the "Demon" warriors in contempt. By 2531, he would be one of many covenant soldiers guarding the "Temple of Clairvoyance", recently discovered by Fieldmaster Re'gish Wamik. Having attempted to hold back the encrouching human presence in the area, they would be recalled back to the relic site.

Fearing the relic's capture by the Humans, covenant forces would be ordered to gather what they could of the relic, before destroying the site. While a main detachment defended the cartographer itself, Garz would be among several sent deeper into the facility to obtain any other relics.Coming across a reinforced security chamber, the team would use their Huragok assistant to unlock the room, believing it to contain a trove of relics. Instead the room only held a dozen large liquid-filled tanks, with aquatic-like alien lifeforms within.

Due to a misunderstanding, the Huragok would activate a process that drained the tanks, allowing the specimens to be released. Now freed, the numerous small aliens would attack the covenant soldiers, with several Unggoy and Kig-Yar falling almost immediately to the creatures' ferocity. Fighting off the aliens, the remaining covenant soldiers would manage to re-seal the room. Shortly after they would receive a call for reinforcements on the surface, as the human attack had begun in earnest. By the time Garz and his men reached the main temple area however, they would find dozens of their comrades slain, with the enemy falling back under the protection of their armored tanks.

Battle of Tronto-Five[]

In 2540, Garz would be deployed onto the Human colony of Tronto-Five, part of an assault on a Human city whose museum unknownly held a forerunner relic. Dropping into the area via insertion pods, Garz was met by multiple squads of Marines, whom he and his fellow Sangheili were able to slay.
