Background

"[The GW Space Station] is the pride and joy of the Federation. Without it, we'd be like a wet match match in a dark cave." -Anonymous Infantryman

The George Washington Space Station was originally considered in 2551, when the security level was dangerously low. It wasn't until 2568 that a design was begun, and blueprints weren't finished until 2574, but construction began on the hull in 2570.

Service

The GWS Station entered service in 2640, purely as a military base. It was completed in 2650, and it then began accepting full-time residents. It is now stationed in orbit in the system Pegasi Omega, orbiting the planet Pegasi II, which the surface of this planet is 98% water, allowing for a large source of water for the Station.

Components

One of the most impressive parts of the Washington is its 25 shipyards, with three quarters capable of building Cruisers, half capable of Battleships and Carriers, and one is large enough to build Dreadnoughts. The Station also has hundreds of acres of farmland, miles of roads, and a railway system.

Defense

The GW Station is heavily defended. Apart from built in defenses listed above, the Station has the following in orbit:

  • 4,015 M14 Grindell/Galilean Nonlinear Defense Laser Pods
  • 9th Defense Fleet
  • 20th Defense Fleet
  • 21st Defense Fleet
  • 22nd Defense Fleet
  • 4th Dreadnought Squadron
