  • 2552-2553 — End of the Human-Covenant War. UNSC / Sangheili deep-penetration on the Ark Theater of Operations results in SUBTANK, an ONI operation to retrieve the corpses of Flood combat forms.
  • 2553 (various months) — Beah Schore, distinguished principal investigator and CSO of Acumen Science, proposes PATRIOT to Gibson, Director of Special Intelligence, UNSC Office of Naval Intelligence, continuing Acumen's long-standing symbiotic relation with ONI. They meet on Asphodel Meadows, and Gibson agrees. Lauryn Alden, a SierraCell consultant, publishes in Nature and is recruited to ONI for the new xenobiology program. Acumen completes ORPHAN, succeeding in the generation of LIBRARY, the verified Flood combat form genome. Lieutenant Alden, on loan to Acumen, successfully prosecutes SNOWFLAKE and discovers the functional significance of BRANDY and other gene families.
  • January 2554 — Acumen prosecutes PEPPER and finds SCARLET. Immediately afterwards, Gibson and Commodore Cooke, the ONI internal chief on PATRIOT, proposes FORECAST, and this is covertly approved by Gibson. While Schore promises to deliver the SCARLET mutagen/teratogen to ONI, without his knowledge, Cooke and NAVSPECWAR assets attack the UNSC colony of Beryl, murdering six thousand children, elderly, and men, retrieving four thousand sexually-fertile women. UNSC Defense Force Operation: SHOEMAKER is prosecuted to investigate the tragedy at Beryl, and all they find are ruins.
  • February 2554 — FORECAST begins under Cooke's direction. The four thousand women are hormone-primed, then artificially impregnated, and the day afterwards, are exposed to molar concentrations of SCARLET. In one day, two thousand women die, and in the following morning, the rest are in such excruciating paroxysms of agony that Admiral Montgomery orders their humane euthanization.
  • March 2554 — One week after FORECAST's start, Beah Schore hears about what has happened — the mutation and deaths of four thousand pregnant women and four thousand developing fetuses — and furiously confronts Cooke, who was responsible. Even Gibson severely chastises Cooke. But they find that one woman still lives; Alexandria Clarissa Blackburn. Schore insists all efforts must be made to save her, that she is the only survivor.
  • December 2554 — Alexandria is near the familiar borders of death, and has the most complex spectrum of pathologies that ONI's physicians have ever seen as a result of nine months of exposure to molar SCARLET. Yet, miraculously, under a pharmaceutical cocktail of dozens of pharmacologicals, she lives, though her life is more chemical than human. She survives long enough to give birth to a child, Kimberly Ivy Blackburn, who is immediately renamed after birth Chief Petty Officer "Talon". Alexandria, now no longer pregnant, is authorized for high exposure to BLUEBERRY, while receiving the full arsenal of ONI's medical care.
  • February 2555 — Alexandria finally reaches a stable medical condition, but is irreversibly scarred for life. ONI examines her carefully and finds curious myogenic and telomeric activities that emerged only after SCARLET exposure.
  • 2557 (various months) — Kimberly, at the age of two, is remarkably physically exceptional, unparalleled, with exceptional growth and development, far faster than any natural human child's growth. Cooke authorizes biochemical and surgical augmentation on Kimberly at the age of two, and also the induction of ectopic puberty, believing that as a fetus if she survived SCARLET, she can survive combinatorial puberty and augmentation. Kimberly is used as a biological test bed and is augmented until she is so far from human she falls into a coma. By this time, BLUE SHIFT has been developed.
  • 2559 — Kimberly, fully augmented and bodily and sexually mature after the chemical puberty, is assessed as "ready for training" at the age of four, and is coupled to Sergeant Major Lansing Lovejoy (FORCE RECON), as a primary instructor. Kimberly, on her first day of training, kills a prisoner without having ordered to, spraying him with handgun fire and blowing a hole in the side of his head, and as he crumples, crushes in his skull with her heel. Kimberly is observed to have significant psychological defects and is diagnosed as psychotic and schizophrenic from birth, likely the result of Flood teratogenesis in the womb.
  • December 2559 — Celebrating Kimberly's fifth birthday, she is pitted against ODST Gauntlet Company on the Tiber River Plains, Asphodel Meadows. Even given a sabotaged HEV insertion pod and traced with a trackable headset, she prevails against the ODSTs, even killing at least one ODST operator by smashing his head against a rock like a baseball bat until his head flattens. This horrifies Lovejoy and Major Boltzmann, while Commodore Cooke is pleased by her bloodlust. Kimberly's malice and yearning for blood only grows stronger, and she becomes responsible for the murder of dozens of NAVSPECWAR, FORCE RECON, and ODST operators that she's pitted against in wargames, and soon, after she begins torturing and slaughtering the UNSCSOCOM operators in the exercises, cruelly slaughtering them. At night, the survivors begin to knock her unconscious with nerve gas, and when she awakes, bind her with titanium-A bonds against a chair and beat her all night until she can't even remain upright in the chair. The following mornings, she continues her rampant destruction and liquification of the UNSCSOCOM operators until hundreds of special warfare operators are dead at her hands.
  • December 2560 — This reaches a pivotal climax on Kimberly's sixth birthday, when ODST SSgt. Karl Avery and Squad Five decide to "celebrate" her birthday by gang-raping her and sexually abusing her, and for the first time, Kimberly feels fear. The following night, she attacks the Asphodel Meadows chem-biol WMD storage, and stealing nerve gas, gasses the sleeping members of ODST Squad Five before taking off all their fingers with pliers and watching them hemorrhage from their hands and seize to death in pain. Then, she takes the machete they used to cut open her clothes and attempts to decapitate SSgt. Avery, only to have the blade horrifyingly sink halfway through his neck, not slicing through. She wriggles the blade until Avery's head falls off, and in front of his dying men, digs out his eyeballs and tosses away the head before beating the remaining, dying ODSTs to death in their dormitory. News of her murders spread and all the personnel in Asphodel Meadows Naval Special Warfare Center begin to openly fear her, and are terrified for the young pet murderess that might kill them too in their sleep.
  • 2561—2564 — Shortly thereafter, Commodore Cooke finally admits that "there is a problem", and after consultation with Beah Schore and his assistant, Lauryn Alden, calls in Senior Chief Petty Officer SPARTAN-091 to "reprogram" her. Kimberly finally gets proper military training, and becomes peerless in warfighting, exceeding even the SPARTANs during their own training years ago. Her psychology still remains irreparable, however, and although SPARTAN-091 forces her into a barely minimum socially-functioning psychology (most of the time), her mind is still a depthless abyss of rage.
  • December 2564 — On her tenth birthday, Kimberly is confirmed to full operational capacity by UNSCSOCOM and ONI. On that day, she receives a visit by an unfamiliar figure; Beah Schore. He quietly attempts to protest to her that she does have a family, but he is coldly rebuffed. Rejected, Schore instead tells SPARTAN-091 about Kimberly's full backstory; the impregnation, the teratogenesis, the augmentations, and even the SPARTAN, who long realized that Kimberly was no ordinary "SPARTAN child trainee", is shocked and left lost by the story. The following day, Kimberly completes her inaugural covert operation with dramatic success and is declared as the finest special warfare operator ever "synthesized"; the product of an ethically-dubious inbreeding between SPARTANs, of Flood teratogenesis in utero, of dozens of biochemical and surgical augmentations.
  • 2565—2569 — Kimberly is an exceptional special warfare operator, inserted as a lone solo operator and accomplishing the black and covert operations that even NAVSPECWAR and FORCE RECON are unable to prosecute. She earns a mythological status with UNSCSOCOM and ONI and soon becomes Section Three's executor on the darkest of operations, even prosecuting and deploying WMDs without hesitation; guilt and remorse are decoupled from her mind. However, on the battlefield, without tight and precise control from ONI controllers and without her regular cocktail of antipsychotics and depressants, she becomes uncontrollable, a storm of undirected, elemental rage. SPARTAN-091 is called upon again to rein her in, and the two successfully execute a number of two-man operations until it is confirmed that on the field, she will remain objective and complete the operation as pre-planned.
  • 2570 — Kimberly is detailed to the UNSCSOCOM Outer Rim Counterinsurgency Campaign, staged from the UNSC Meridian Rays, and meets Delta Team (UNSC Counterterrorism Activity Warfare Section) and Echo, including Delta-Three (August Plummer). Operation: ICEBREAKER is prosecuted on New Monmouth, the first of many counterinsurgency operations.
