  • The Rain Forest Wars: Armed conflict ripped through South America, as Koslovic, Frieden, and UN forces all clashed over ideological differences, sparking additional conflicts off-planet.
  • Grunts encounter a gray-skinned humanoid species that feed by hypnotizing their targets, and luring them in to eat their brains. Grunts drive this once thriving species to near-extinction.

  • The Campaign on Mars: A series of lightning strikes against Koslovic forces near the

Argyre Planitia marking the first extra-terrestrial deployment of Marines. The campaign is an unqualified success. As a result, future military doctrines favor large contingents of Marines for ground assaults and ship-boarding actions.

  • A gray-skinned humanoid species recovers from a Grunt attack and strikes out. Grunts completely elimenate the survivors, driving this species to extinction, although many Grunts fell to this unknown, deadly race during the war. The unknown species is extinct.

  • UN-sponsored military forces begin a pattern of massive build-ups, culminating in the first real interplanetary war. After the successful Marine deployment on Mars, recruitment drives and propaganda tactics strongly bolster UNSC (United Nations Space Command) forces. UN forces defeat Koslovic (supporters of rabid Communist hard-liner Vladimir Koslov) and Frieden (a resurgence of fascism) forces on Earth, and then begin a systematic and dedicated drive to crush their remnants on the various planets they hold throughout the system. At the conclusion, Frieden and Koslovic forces are defeated, in the face of a massive, unified and very powerful UN military.[1]
  • The classic military novel A Soldier's Tale: Rainforest Wars was first published.
  • The UNSC Formation Charter declares the formation of the UNSC.
  • The UNSC descovers a race known as the Amani.

  • 2170 saw a unified Earth government formed in the wake of the conflicts of the 2160s. Now, the victors are forced to deal with a less obvious but equally serious threat: overpopulation and a massive military that has no enemy to fight. In the post-war period there are massive population surges and the overpopulation, coupled with the destruction and famine bred by The Rain Forest Wars, threatened to destabilize the economy
  • Marine Division 116 is originally formed.

  • This was the year upon which the Covenant Neutralists were formed under the Neutral Aliance Treaty. They celebrate this date (September the 23rd) every year as an anniversary of independence from the old Covenant. Despite the CNE being officially formed in 2543 the minority of old covenant military, which were the foundations of the CNE, created the CNE in the year 2540, however the government was not stable and separation from the old Covenant was still underway.

  • A small, uncharted UNSC planet was ambushed by a small Covenant force. This claimed 3,893 lives before two UNSC fleets came and completely destroyed the Covenant forces. Leo Parker was one of the survivors of this attack, but tragically his parents died.

  • Battle of Spectre Prime: SPARTAN-IIs officialy revealed, their files begin being declassified.

  • The UNSC Ship 'The Grand Pileup' Crash Lands into the Barren Planet Kamikazi 8.
  • The Battle of Aphrodite II occurs. The Covenant win only barely.
  • The Battle of Herakles II occurs. The UNSC win a large victory. Herakles II is evacuated two months afterwards.
  • The UNSC Aegeas Fate, the Dawn Over Luna, and the Chicago merge with the Elite-Human Home Fleet.
  • The UNSC The Road Not Taken dissapears after fleeing from a major naval conflict, all hands aboard, including Admiral Alexander Bodet are assumed lost.
  • The UNSC Home Fleet is temporarily assigned to Captain John Electra Bond.
  • ODST Commander Fang discovers Covenant activity on Omega 5 within the Epsilon-Eriono system.
  • Randall-078 is confirmed to be dead.
  • The Home Fleet is sent to assist Commander Fang.
  • The Elite ship Sangheli Rage joins the Home fleet under Shipmaster Zhar Vadamee, cousin of Thel.
  • Covenant Armadamaster Hyla Sucramee with Armada "Eternal Salvation" engages a flood army on Zeta Erandus 1,2,4 and 7.
  • The Radiant 7 is assigned it's final mission in which it self destructs killing everyone onboard and damaging a nearby Brute fleet.

  • March: SPARTAN-141 disappears in former Covenant space, listed as MIA.
  • April: The Battle of New Africa and the New Africa Incident occur.
  • May: The SPARTAN-M Program starts.
  • July 25: The Battle of the Beacon takes place. A Forerunner installation, called the Beacon, which contains Hydra and Nogard. They are accidentally released in tandem with a signal to an unknown destination. This signal is discovered the next year to have awakened the Monitor of the Ceres Installation. Most UNSC and Covenant forces are killed/destroyed in the battle. The battle ends with the Beacon being blown up by a NOVA bomb, completely destroying it and all forces inside. No Hydra survive the battle. The Beacon's Monitor is destroyed. Nogard escapes. All of Team Alpha but Amy Black and all of Dragon Squadron are killed by the explosion. All dead members of Team Alpha and Dragon Squadron are given a grand funeral. Jim Wilson takes the gems from each of them and planned to give them to each members children. Admiral Wilson is promoted to Fleet Admiral for his service in the line of duty.
  • November: SPARTAN-141 assigned as ONI Biological Asset 1458, follows/joins Jared Kelmond as part of a sting operation to bring him down.
  • December: ONI Agent Nikolai Balarov is tortured and executed by Syphodyte forces during hte Syphodyte Campaign.

  • The Battle of Ceres takes place. First missions of the new Team Alpha, the new Dragon Squadron and Team Beta. Many different forces engage each other on the planet, and the originally docile mission soon gets very difficult. Outcome currently classified.
  • Galactic Corp is founded by Herinus.It builds and manufactures weapons for years to come.
  • The Forerunners' existance is discovered by humanity.
  • Rager XII's government is overthrown by Stephen Griffon, his regime begin mercylessly executing ONI agents.
  • The UNSC Sparrow enters service for the first time on Mars.

  • Chief Petty Officer Kimberly Ivy Blackburn turns four, and begins formal military training in the UNSC Office of Naval Intelligence under Master Sergeant Lansing Lovejoy. She earns her first human kill on the first day of training, instinctively killing a bound prisoner with an M6 sidearm without hesitation, and as he dies, planting her boot into his skull.

  • The Starlight War, the biggest war in Galactic history, biger than the Forerunner-Flood War, bigger than even the Necros War, starts.

  • The first Myrmidon company of UNSC Special Warfare Group SPARTAN is activated and commissioned for field operations.
  • Delta Team and Justin Davis die during a mission to check on possible hostile forces. Forces end up being Nogard's, and the five brave men die in battle. Their bodies are found on the planet 2 weeks later when ONI searches for them. Team Alpha, Dragon Squadron and Lance of Unrelenting Reparation begin a search for Nogard, and find him on an uninhabited world on the edge of UNSC/Covenant space. Finding Nogard's base of operations on the planet, they begin a covert mission in an attempt to destroy it, but fail. They attempt to retreat so that they can report what information they had back to the AUR HIGHCOM, but were stopped by the traitorous Team Beta. The UNSC First Response Fleet appears and briefly skirmishes with the enemy, but begins to pull out as Nogard begins a self-destruct of the planet, really a Precursor facility. With Team Alpha, Dragon Squadron and SpecOps Force Alpha failing to return, Fleet Admiral Jim Wilson flies the UNSC Thermopylae down to the planet. There, he rescues the teams, and then he attempts to hold off enemy forces long enough for them to escape. Team Beta make one final effort of good, assisting Jim Wilson, and as the Thermopylae flies off, Team Beta and Jim Wilson are killed in the explosion.

  • March: The Battle of Ignito Prime commences. Nogard and Hydra forces begin to battle on the ancient Precursor planet, and Allied forces retaliate. Team Alpha, Dragon Squadron and the Lance of Unrelenting Reparation initiate Operation: E PLURIBUS UNUM, in a final attempt to destroy the opposing forces. The operation succeeds, but at the cost of all members of the three teams (save Ameigh Broley).
  • The UNSC The Road Not Taken is found in low orbit around Arcturus III by the crew of the UNSC Hemmingway. 27 crew members are found in cryostasis aboard the crippled ship, among them Admiral Alexander Bodet, and are returned to Earth.
  • Reyes-McLees Shipyards start to design new ship for the UNSC.

  • May 27th: The Elites of Sang 'helios are forbidden to surredner, the Troopers want revenge on the attack of their planet
  • The Corrupt Covenant Seperatists are defeated by the mighty Troopers in the Starlight War, the UNSC is left defencless.
  • May 28th: Every Single Elites survivor of the battles are brutally tortured for fighting for the Seperatists
  • May 29th: the UNSC recieves notice that the Troopers had murdered every single Seperatists soldier and the Starlight War continues.
