"Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Hotel Foxtrot, its a capital ship!"
―Anonymous Marine

The Horus-class Light Cruiser was a warship class designed for rapid reaction and interception. The ship is designed to mix high speed and decent armament to allow it to intercept warships as quickly as possible. Being one of the fastest vessels in the Fleet, it often forms the 'tip of the spear', performing vanguard actions, reconnaissance in force, and raiding.

These ships mix-cruiser level weaponry, with frigate-styled superstructure and armour, making it light and agile, but vulnerable to fire. While their weaponry is exceedingly powerful, they are heavily reliant on escort fighters to protect them against enemy fighters and bombers, and can rarely stay in a stand-up fight for long. Its lightweight armour is tough, but its main protection is the ship's agility.

The ship is rarely deployed in battle groups, but is most commonly deployed in three roles. It can be deployed in planetary defence roles, being 'first wave' of reaction forces, hitting pirates and raiders before they can pose a threat. In fleet roles they act as vanguards and scouts, roving ahead of the main force to gather information, or provide rapid reaction. Their last role is that of raider, being used in small squadrons to harry and attack lone enemy vessels, or strike at commerce vessels and facilities. In this role, these squadrons were known as 'Tiger Squadrons', wherein they would often jump in and out of slipspace in a short period of time, causing as much damage in that short time.

Isis-class Light Cruiser

The Isis-class Destroyer was a subclass of the Horus-class. The class was aesthetically the same as the Horus-class, but had an W/AS M21A 'Tsunami' DIC replacing its MAC gun.
