Halo Installation-07, or Eta Halo, was one of the most active Forerunner Halo Installations, as well as a crucial Flood containment and research center. It was maintained by 823543 Discordant Fervor until the advent of his rampancy, by which 117649 Annihilative Repentance replaced him. It was inevitably destroyed in a similar fashion as Installation 04, through the overloading of a Covenant Capital Ship's engine core.

[edit] History

[edit] The Forerunners

Unlike most other Halo Installations, Installation-07 received near daily Forerunner traffic, due to the various Flood research and containment centers dotted across it. The Center, a large facility suspended above the ground, was one of the most influential Flood research centers across known Forerunner-controlled space. One of the Proto-Gravemind Flood forms in stasis inevitably fooled the acting Monitor 823543 Discordant Fervor into releasing it, at the same time causing the Monitor to begin stages of rampancy. Forerunner military units were quickly dispatched, and the ordeal ended with little to no casualties; Discordant Fervor was replaced by 117649 Annihilative Repentance, and was inevitably placed in a stasis.

After the Forerunner-Flood War began however, Flood forces appeared and released those in stasis, as well as the rogue Discordant Fervor, causing large-scale panic and mayhem across the ring. 823543 Discordant Fervor swiftly took control of one of the installation's Sentinel factories, as well as one of the Installation's three acting Sentinel Captains, while the Flood swept across the ring, slaughtering Forerunner researchers and military troops despite Annihilative Repentance's best efforts. Discordant Fervor severed ties with the swiftly growing proto-gravemind, dubbed "The Hive," and in time, the three "factions" fought themselves into a stalemate.

[edit] The Human-Covenant War

The UNSC Second Assault Fleet fought Covenant forces at the Installation, before it was inevitably abandoned. However, by the time Captain Meneas Coed and his crew arrived at the Installation, an unimaginably large Covenant armada had been dispatched to the ring. The Covenant expedition, led by the minor Prophet Gol Bekt, near instantly began engaging the newly arrived Human force, causing additional conflict on the ring.

[edit] The Battle of Installation-07

117649 Annihilative Repentance ultimately sided with the Humans, and inevitably attempted to use them to activate the installation. Flood resistance was heavy, and after the Flood disabled the installation's firing mechanism, the surviving Human forces, now joined by newly formed Covenant Separatists from the Covenant armada, opted to destroy the installation by overloading the engine core of a downed Covenant capital ship. Repentance followed them, despite being disgruntled at the decision to destroy his installation, and the newly formed allies escaped the ring aboard a captured Covenant cruiser as the Installation was destroyed.

[edit] Enhancements

The Installation, due to its greater importance, was given additional Sentinel variants in its repertoire, as well as a larger blast radius given its activation.
