Keiichi-047 (December 22nd, 2511—December 25th, 2593), born as Keiichi <\ERROR!\>, later known as Kenshin Fujii, and sporadically referred to as the Samurai, was a special operations, chemically augmented super-soldier that served the Advanced War Tactics Group, better known as the SPARTAN-II Program.
Keiichi most notably served as commander and self-proclaimed grenadier-corpsman (officially grenadier) of Azure Team.
Keiichi was born to and raised by a family of modernistic, corporate serfs (a term used to refer to civilians forced to work for a corporation by various means). Before he even learned to speak properly, his parents were kidnapped and later executed by Artemis rebels. He was moved to a state-operated orphanage, where the young boy began to exhibit "super-human" qualities. Just weeks before his sixth birthday, a Dr. Catherine Halsey, masterminded the abduction of the young Keiichi, which marked the beginning of his career as a SPARTAN commando.
During his bound tenure with the SPARTAN-II special warfare outfit, Keiichi was developed by himself and his peers into a sensible, ultra-efficient warmonger. Having served before, during, and after the First Great War (a rare accomplishment for any soldier, let alone the few and far between Spartans), SPARTAN-047 served in well over one hundred unique engagements and operations.
Birth & Childhood
SPARTAN-047 was born as Keiichi <\ERROR!\>; he was the fifth of six children parented by Hiyoshi and Lauren Bellamy, both of which being multi-generational Martians. Though initially residing in the metropolis of Krovenia, a move to the rural settlement Bremagne was necessitated by changes in father Heyoshi's position of employment. Within days of moving to the village and just before Keiichi's first birthday, his oldest sibling, seven year-old Olivia, was killed by stray gunfire during a gunfight between local police officers and insurgent raiders. This incident caused the family exponential grief as Heyoshi was threatened with arrest after nagging the local police for compensation.

Just six months later, the same rebel organization kidnapped both Heyoshi and Lauren, demanding a ransom of cR 4,000,000. After a botched attempt by UNSC Ranger recondos to diffuse the situation, both of the hostages were raped and executed by the captors. Subsequently, the surviving children, including Keiichi, were placed in various foster homes and orphanages; Keiichi was the only one placed in the Briggs-Ewell Home for Children, which he was assigned to at the age of one year, five months.
While (involuntarily) attending the modest charity house, Keiichi began displaying a variety of somewhat abnormal traits. By the age of three, he was able to speak a limited amount of the German language, having heard two nuns converse while visiting a cathedral. He also taught himself to play the piano at a noteworthy level within the same year, a talent that continuously improved with limited guidance during much of his time at the orphanage. At the physical end of the spectrum, he grew taller than most children three to five years older that him by the age of four-and-a-half. Surprisingly, instead of clumsily managing this growth spurt, he was able to harness this advantage; accordingly, he was typically the "first picked" when it came to games of pick-up soccer and arrow rugby, a variation of rugby football that originated in the 2340s. These numerous feats rarely failed to impress locals. To the contrary, though, not only was he teased for this supposed "freakishness" but many considered him a tainted product of secretive UNSC biological experimentation.
Despite societal shortcomings, Naval Intelligence scouts were made aware of his attributes in 2516. An interested Catherine Elizabeth Halsey arrived on the planet within two weeks and began speaking to Keiichi after telling the orphanage's management that she was an interested potential adopter. She wrote of the boy's interesting traits in her journal:
"This subject [ID No.V/5549] seems to be one of the best potential candidates for the program. I've heard from a number of the locals (might I add many of which thought he was a UNSC-augmented mutant) about his many noteworthy aspects, and it seems there are many more than what I could possibly observe during this trip… Perhaps this particular subject would be one of our theorized JOATs; he surely exhibits the hypothesized traits… So, at this point, I can only hope his bio-readout passes the examinations, because this one is surely a keeper, in my opinion."
Not long after this excerpt was written, Keiichi was approved for the SPARTAN-II Program. He was promptly abducted in the middle of a cold, winter night and replaced with a flash clone, which died after a massive heart attack ninety-three days later.
In the hours following the kidnapping, Keiichi awoke after being knocked unconscious by a harmless chemical cocktail. Upon his revival, the boy realized he was aboard some sort of ship, which he later learned to be known as the UNSC Moss Lee Harmless, a vessel of the UNSC Prowler Corps. He was quick to begin conversation with the three other children in the room, Celine, Amer, and Margot, curious to learn more about the situation. Before long, though, an ONI officer entered the room and ordered the children to their bunks as he sat to watch them. After a five day travel, the space ship arrived in the Epsilon Eridani planetary system, specifically in the orbit of Reach. It proceeded to dock with the military station known as Alpha Vegas, which acted as a low-level hub of sorts for coordinating special force activities.
From there, the children boarded a transport shuttle to be taken to the surface; they were accompanied by half a dozen escorts, each equipped with Tiger carbines. They landed near a remote military base before transferring to an unmarked armored personnel carrier. After hours of traversing the planet's challenging terrain, they arrived at a well-defended complex known as Camp Delta-3, the initial rendezvous site for the seventy-five Spartan candidates. After receiving a quick briefing of sorts by an instructor, they were put to bed in nearby barracks.
The following morning, the Spartans-to-be were <awx^s#a<\BREACH!\> <\SEALING_INFLICTED_DATA_GATES...\> <\FURTHER_ACCESS_DISALLOWED\>
Keiichi's first assigned mission was to the mining colony Mandolae, one of the few "backwater worlds" of the Inner Colonies. The local inhabitants, having grown tired of the financially and psychologically straining status of the sector's economy, stormed and looted a number of towns of metropolises; By early August, seven people were killed on Mandolae alone. In response to rumors of large-scale insurgent raids, UNSC command ordered Azure Team to take control of the situation.
On September 5th, 2525, four SPARTAN-II special force soldiers, under the command of the morally established Keiichi-047, arrived in-orbit on the sloop Justice's Banquet. They were promptly shuttled to the ground. Upon touching down on the surface, however, the team came under fire from Insurrectionist ambushers. They responded with an equally aggressive counter-assault, incapacitating all twenty-one present hostiles in just forty seconds; these would be the first casualties by AWTG infantry in a true combat scenario. After clearing the vicinity, a small outpost was established by local police officers in a parking garage adjacent to the landing zone/road intersection, who were bombed out of their two local precincts. Bristol-060 and Andrea-098 proceeded forward via a privately-operated armored car while Keiichi and Celine-055 rendezvoused with an Army squad-sized detail that was preparing to assault the Hiro Center, a massive skyscraper that was home to CommuniWorks.
Upon breaching the empty ground floor, the joint-force team continued by swiftly raiding the above three levels, each bearing ill-equipped rebel assets. As they exited the stairwell of the fourth floor, though, a motion-sensor directed improvised explosive device detonated, killing two of the troopers and wounding a second pair. The two Spartans, flustered, shoved the remaining footsoldiers aside and made quick work of the five rebels in the nearby rooms. In the process, they found what they, and the insurgency for that matter, wanted from the building: an extravagant communications system. Maintaining its operational capabilities proved key in the subsequent firefights, and within hours, localized rebel forces were all but subdued, and the capital city was once again under the control of the UNSC.
SPARTAN-047 was known to effectively wield a vast variety of equipment while carrying out military activities. Commandos of such notoriety were often equipped with cutting edge technology. Additionally, as a SPARTAN-II in the colonial era, not only did he make use of heavy apparatuses such as the MJÖLNIR and modified SPI, but he also periodically made use of more conventional equipment, including standard infantry battledress and even civilian attire when taking part in undercover missions. Furthermore, Keiichi's dual specialties as a grenadier and adept medic provided for numerous other opportunities, in terms of compatible technologies.
Three iterations of the 344-d armor series.
Like all AWTG operators, Keiichi was most often outfitted with an armor suit of the MJÖLNIR series, a multi-corporate venture to develop superhuman-compatible powered combat suits. Between the years of 2525 and 2552, 047 strictly wore the revolutionary MJÖLNIR Mark IV power armor. While it lacked the shielding subsystems and other devices that were present on succeeding iterations, the Mark IV nevertheless paved the way for compact, powered, military-grade exoskeletons of future design. During the latter half of the Sol engagements, Keiichi was assigned a new combat suit: the MJÖLNIR Mark VI. A number of new, state-of-the-art features put this version high above its predecessors in terms of overall capabilities and even cost-efficiency. The final suit of the series, which again raised the bar for power armor of its time, was the MJÖLNIR VII Assault Suit, which served a number of Spartans during the colonial era.
In addition to mightily protective powered assault armor, S-047 made use of a number of "lesser" battle armors, particularly throughout the three decades. As the threat of volatile Covenant attacks had all but subsided, Spartan infantry did not require the utmost battledress that they had in the previous years. Accordingly, and unsurprisingly, many soldiers made use of modified versions of the Individual Combatant Modular Battle Armor, which distinctively served both the Shock Infantry and Rangers since the late twenty-fifth century. Common upgrades done for SPARTAN-II wearers included an expanded extra-vehicular activity (EVA) operations capacity, minor shield-projecting mechanisms, and others. Another option was typically available was the M14 battle armor. Developed and approved for field use in 2554, the M14 makes use of previously experimental materials and technologies and is comparable in effectiveness to the SPI armor series.
Keiichi's direct combatant role as a grenadier grants him access to a wide range of primary and secondary weaponry. In conventional surface warfare, SPARTAN-047 preferred to carry a grenade launcher, compact carbine (or submachine gun), and a sidearm of some sort, usually of the M6 series; more often than not, 047 made use of drum-fed multiple grenade launchers (MGLs) such as the M335 Multiple Grenade Launcher or XM105 Modular Munitions Launcher, each of which being an unconventional recourse to more common systems like the comparably inefficient M319 IGL. Alternatively, Keiichi tended to favor battle rifle-type weapons, such as the BR55 or M392, when combined with nonstandard, underbarrel grenade launchers. This choice, when combined with a close quarters-capable weapon of some sort, allowed Keiichi to provide the greatest range of fire support effectiveness.
In addition to the aforementioned, Keiichi-047 armed himself with a sidearm of some sort. More often than not, he holstered a magnum-type pistol of the M6 series. Alternatively, Keiichi also tended to carry the M145, a revolver that utilized an inexpensive, disposable, cylindrical magazine to improve effectiveness; nonetheless, obvious technical disadvantages led to the M145's lack of usage when compared to the M6. The final weapon Keiichi was commonly equipped with ,discounting grenades, was a specialized, bladed weapon of one variety or another. During much of his early career (e.g. 2525 through early 2530s), this Keiichi sheathed the UNSC standard issue Close Quarters Combat Weapon System, a multirole combat knife bearing a twenty centimeter blade forged of high carbon steel and titanium. Afterward, he began to carry an M11 special operations-issue kukri.
Behind the Scenes
Following the First Great War, Keiichi developed an avid interest in arrow rugby, particularly the Martian team.
This character, like many others of Rozh's creation, makes use of December 22nd as the birthdate.
