- "Me and my spotter were hitting Necros Warriors trying to assault Point 342 from our concealed position, and those bastards weren't happy. They had teams sweeping the streets below us. Then we hear this 'BANG' and a Necros scream. One of those stupid bastards had ran straight into my Claymore."
- ―Gunnery Sergeant Kelly Barnes
The M127 Anti-Personnel Mine is a UNSC anti personnel mine.
Description[]
The M127 APERS Mine, often named 'Claymore' by troops is a small, infantry deployed anti personnel mine. The mine consists of three explosive charges arranged in a fan shape, each consisting of a plastic explosive detonator and numerous EXCALIBUR ball bearings that deform into shards of varying sizes on explosion and with a effective range of 100 meters. Using a motion detector, forward facing trip lasers and a IFF detector, it is able to detonate on contact of hostile targets and eliminate them. The mine is carried in a compacted for then deployed by releasing the safety pin then place the weapon down on its adhesive support struts, keeping it upright. The mine has a life time of 2 months, after which time, the mine auto destructs. It also has anti tampering systems, to ensure lethality.
Like all UNSC Mines it can be deactivated and reactivated by coded signals. These signals are composed on near unbreakable codes, preventing the enemy from randomly bombarding the battlefield with codes to deactivate them. The Mine is invisible to conventional mine detectors and invisible to ARGUS sensors.
