The M23 Grenade Launcher is a revolver-type grenade launcher, firing 40mm grenades with a high rate of fire. The weapon is mostly built of lightweight polymers with titanium alloy frame and titanium barrel with chrome lining a. It features a titanium alloy collapsing stock with a rubberized recoil pad.

Uses[]

The M23 MGL is popular with teams facing close quarters assaults and urban combat. Its high rate of fire, explosive rounds and its different round load outs make it popular for a multi-use weapon, capable of demolitions, clearing out buildings and destroying light vehicles. It is fond among Assault teams, urban combat teams and Combat Engineers. The MGL has a linked fire control system, shared with the M319N IGL, allowing accurate point detonation by the operator.

Operation[]

The M23 is a revolver type, hand-held grenade launcher. The six-shot cylinder is rotated by the clockwork-type spring for each shot. Spring is wound automatically during the reloading. For reloading, the cylinder is flipped out to the left, allowing pre-made six round revolver loaders to be loaded or singular shells to be loaded. The double-action firing mechanism has a manual safety above the pistol grip. It is fitted with a Misriah Rail on each side of the barrel and one on the Receiver which, by standard, holds a Fire Control Scope. The grenade launcher can be converted to fire from a 14 shot revolving chamber instead.

The MGL, as standard, has in-built day/night leaf sights that can be folded away to allow for the grenade launcher to affix scopes. The weapon fits four Misriah accessory rails along the receiver, along the underside of the barrel and on each side of it, allowing the user to fix scopes, flashlights, lasers and grips.

UNSC Comments[]

"Thinks brings the rain! Six shells in three seconds!"

"Reloading shells individually is fussy, but so are carrying the quick loaders. They are damn bulky."

"The HEAT shells can't take on tank armour, at least not frontal or flank, but I suppose that's the beauty of urban warfare, we got perfect shots on their upside armour."
