The M2A Carbine is a small, rugged carbine, designed for use as a smaller, lighter alternative to the MA6A Individual Combat Weapon System. It swaps incapacitation powers of larger calibre weapons for portability and longevity of fire.
Uses[]
The ideal use of the M2A Carbine is in supportive, high movement scenarios, utilising smaller calibre caseless ammo for higher volume cartridges, enabling prolonged suppressive fire. To this end the weapon is often used by special forces, for its ease of portability without compromising lethality. It is primarily used by special forces, specialists, weapon operators, scouts and pathfinders. Lighter than the MA6K carbine, and with a high capacity magazine, it lacks its stopping power.
Design[]
The weapon is gas operated, breech chambered rifle. Despite being caseless, it has a manual ejection port for removing rare instances of jammed munitions. The weapon is loaded by inserting the stacked magazine into the receiver port at a 45 degree angel then pushing the magazine to the closed position. To eject it, the user has to push the magazine ejection button, positioned just behind the magazine, ejecting sideways to allow for the empty magazine to be removed, and the fresh magazine placed in it. It has two ejection buttons, on the left and right, which will eject it to the left or right, facilitating right or left handed users. The weapon is then cocked by a ambidextrous cocking handle. When fired, the bolt travels down the receiver rather than backwards to absorb recoil and direct it away from the shooter. It has fully adjustable and removable day/night iron sights. The weapon can be fitted with a Rail Interface System, featuring one receiver rails, one rail under the barrel, then two to each side of the barrel.
The weapon is with a manoeuvrability enhancing ergonomic design and made from carbon fibre with a reinforced polymide matrix shell and an adjustable polymer stock.
UNSC Comments[]
"I was a medic over at Linna. I saw some pretty terrible stuff there but my carbine kept me safe the whole time."
"The carbine is great because its so damn adaptable. It can be used as a PDW, as a support rifle for fire teams, as a close assault weapon for assault teams, as a compact weapon for mobile infantry. You got a role, apart from sniper and tank buster, and it'll do it."
