M376 Satchel Charge is a UNSC explosive device designed for demolitions.

Uses[]

The Satchel Charge is used by regular and special forces for all purpose demolition, with a wide variety of purposes. A single normal sized charge is capable of breaching light bulkheads, gates and walls and severely damaging armoured vehicles, more so when inside and destroying stationary enemy material or used to destroy structures in large amounts, while large packs can be used to demolish a large structure or vehicle in a single detonation.

Operation[]

The satchel charge consists of a sealed and pressurised bag of C-15 Liquid Explosive. The bag is non-rigid and strong, resistant to scraps and tears and has some flex to it. The inverse of the package has a strong adhesive allowing it to placed to walls and stay there, or be 'slap' shot' onto walls, moving vehicles or even people. The charge bag has a connected short range radio receiver allowing it to receive arming and detonation commands from the universal detonator. The satchel can be thrown a short distance without fear of damaging, and will still adhere to its target, dropped from up to twenty feet onto a target.

The universal detonator is a hand held unit which features a simple two digit control. On top of the grip is a safety, which must be unlocked to use the detonator and two close switches. The upper trigger arms the explosive, at which point tampering, penetration or penetration of the membrane will detonate it and the lower detonates it. When detonated, an electronic charge is fired through the liquid, which aligns the binary components in less than 2 nanoseconds and detonates it. It does not necessarily need to be armed to detonate. Stray electronic shocks, such as from discharging electrical cables or electrostatic vehicle defences will activate it.
