The M382 Special Munition Attack Charge (Kinetic), better known as the SMACK is a UNSC high explosive device used for a variety of anti-material purposes, such as demolition, sabotage and anti-tank operations in close quarters combat situations.
The SMACK is mostly used by UNSC Special Forces. Being small, lightweight, yet possessing massive destructive potential, it is preferred to heavy duty explosives roles, going against tanks, defended positions or even capable of punching a hole in light warship armour.
The SMACK uses a simple plastic container, stuffed full of C-14 Plastic Explosives and brimmed with a EXCALIBUR concave lid. Upon detonation of the explosive by remote detonation, through a variety of means, the explosive charge goes off and the charge shapes the warhead through the Misznay–Schardin effect. This turns the warhead into a high power kinetic penetrator travelling at hyper sonic speeds. This charge tears through armour and causes severe after damage through pyrophoric effects.
