- "Fuck, I thought that Brute had me, I was fucked. As he raised up that fucking meat cleaver of a sword, the det charge went off, created a hole in the wall the size of a 'Hog. Marines shock and awed that Bravo Kilo!"
- ―Lance Corporal David Clark
The M390 Breaching Charge, also known as the Gate Crasher, is a UNSC explosive device for breaching obstacles such as walls or doors.
UNSC Forces, both regular and Special, use the Gate Crasher to enter a building in a less than destructive manner without harming themselves or the occupants, but delivering enough shock and awe to allow successful neutralization of targets inside.
The Gate Crasher uses long chords of C-14 placed in circular patterns on a single clamp, set in a plastic mold, with a water filled plate at the back. The explosive force is directed into the wall, causing destructive shockwaves that, on a normal door, with blow it off its hinges or tear it open, or when combined with between two or five charges, it can breach a large wall section.
