- "I got three M47s hidden on my body, can you tell where?"
- ―ONI agent
The M47 is a compact, semi automatic UNSC pistol, designed for concealment and lightness. While lighter that its larger cousin, the M57, it has a lower magazine capacity, though thanks to the fact it fires the same type of round it is still capable of piercing modern armour. The weapon comes in a electroless nickel, black polymer or titanium alloy finish. The weapon, despite being produced by the United North American Defence Systems, in order to maintain a competitive grip on the market, it uses the UAE Systems designed 4.8x32mm micro rifle round/
The weapon is used when concealment and weight is at a premium. Popular with ONI agents for its small size, ease of concealment and hard hitting body armour piercing power and popular with UNSC troops for its light weight and small size and lack of compromise with its ammunition.
The M47 is short-recoil operated, locked-breech pistol with a polymer frame. The barrel locks to the slide with a single large lug which engages the ejection port. Unlocking and locking is controlled by a cam-shaped lug which interacts with a steel insert pinned to the frame. If the insert becomes worn or damaged, any competent gunsmith can easily replace it. The dual return spring arrangement is of the captive type. The trigger is single-action. The pistol is striker fired, with the firing pin cocking indicator made in the form of a pin which protrudes from the rear of the slide when the gun is cocked. There are no manual safeties on the M47, but several automatic safeties are present, such as a firing pin block, a trigger safety and a grip safety. It has fully adjustable and removable day/night iron sights.
"Its the M57's baby cousin!"
"It may be small but it still fires the same AP round as the M57 and the M10, kicks serious ass!"
"Man those things are light, even I could dual wield them."
