"Dakka dakka dakka!"
―Wolf Spider gunner

The Wolf Spider Air Defence System is a modified Scorpion variant as part of the Unified Command Mountings, which can be fitted to the G5 Scorpion, Easy Eight Scorpion, 808-20 Scorpion, and M820 Scorpion. Replacing the older Sun Devil anti-air vehicle, the Wolf Spider addresses issues of accuracy, range, and effectiveness, capable of delivering hails of anti-air onto a target.

The primary armament for short to medium range engagement are four M309 Automatic Cannons. These forty millimetre cannons are self-loading and can achieve a cyclic rate of 2,000 rounds per minute. Each is fitted in a dual mount on either side of the turret. It fires a mixture of high explosive incendiary and high explosive rounds, to inflict maximum damage against aircraft. The cannons are fitted with a recoil compensator to keep them stable under high rates of fire. The guns themselves are fitted with highly efficient Doppler cooling system, utilising LASER and the Doppler effect to cool the guns even under constant fire. The guns can traverse to near vertical, and traverse down slightly, allowing it to engage forces on the ground. The guns are linked to internal magazine belts that are situated in the normal autoloader mechanism in the body of the tank itself, allowing it to carry 1200 rounds to the battle. These cannons are effective to almost five kilometres, and lethal against most threats, including Phantoms and Seraphs.

The MIM-44 Slamdunk surface to air missiles are kept in two separate groups of four and, like the guns, can be traversed upwards to an almost horizontal position. These missiles use RADAR to achieve lock on. Once launched, these missiles continue to use the RADAR, as well as optical, infra-red and ultra-violet seekers, to home in on targets. In addition, these missiles can continue to track aircraft even if they are attempting to jam their RADAR. The missiles are highly lethal, and can achieve a range of twenty one kilometres, and can track via other UNSC ground or air-based RADAR, without having to use the Wolf Spider's own RADAR systems. The missiles can be reloaded from the rear as one tube, or as part of a four missile bloc.

The Wolf Spider is equipped with two radars, carrying a rotating AESA acquisition radar on the rear, and a pulse-Doppler tacking radar on the front of the turret. The acquisition radar folds down behind the tank to reduce the overall height for transport, and when in use it is used to acquire targets. This data is referred to the tracking radar, which is used to guide the cannons and missiles. The Wolf Spider can link to other UNSC anti-air and aerospace assets for guidance and air defence missions.

UNSC Remarks[]

"In all my life I never heard 'duka duka' and 'fshwoom' together. Who thought it would work?"

"The missile system makes fly boys go down low, the flak guns make 'em go six feet under."
