"When your tank gun can overpenetrate the frontal armour of 3 MBTs, you know you got something special."
―Anonymous Marine

The Komodo Anti-Vehicle Platform was a modified version of the Monitor, its main gun removed and replaced with a Weapon/Anti-Vehicle Model 7 Grindell/Galileian Nonlinear Rifle. Armed with a powerful laser weapon, it could produce fearsome results against enemy armour, with almost no enemy armour capable of withstanding it. Almost comically powerful, it is capable of successfully knocking out enemy tanks by firing through multiple structures, and can often produce a lethal kill in a single hit. The laser melts armour so fast it explosively vaporises, often causing chains of explosions through the hull. The Laser can additional tune itself to defeat specific armour, or counter weather effects.

The Komodo's lethality makes it effective, even against the Scarab, forming an element of the UNSC's 'Scarab Slayer' arsenal. The Laser can defeat Scarab armour, and deal catastrophic damage.

UNSC remarks[]

"We never had to bother waiting for line of sight any more. During trial runs on Acturus we developed the tactic of using Sat Uplinks to aim our guns right through buildings and forests. We nailed target drones up to 4000m away doing that in dense forested and urban areas. The 4 version is modified to support that fully."

"Those Sierra Foxtrots figured out how to pick up our lasers. They detected the low level 'painting' laser before hand. When they got that they got out of sight, requiring us to work on Sat Uplink, but we got away around that. Our foot boys started aiming at tanks with laser sights of the same frequencies and we started spoofing them with our defence lasers and setting up perimeter defence lasers to do the same. It was a month or so of them hiding before they realised we were messing with them and they gave up that tactic. Our kills per day reached an all time high after that."

"When the Remnant attacked Belsario III their whole plan hinged on a Scarab tank breaching main colony's outer defences. We hit it as it crested the hill some 2000m from the walls and disabled its secondary gun then as it got to 1000m we hit its front right and rear back right leg, blowing the first clean off and crippling the other. It kept crawling towards us and we hit it with another hit that bisected its command room and its power core. After that, the dozen or so supporting Wraiths thought twice about advancing."
