New Osaka was one of the most heavily populated cities on Nordarus, second only to New Tokyo. Approximately 65% of the population of New Osaka is of Japanese descent, and the city's culture is a blend of Japanese and Norwegian culture, like in most places on Nordarus.

The city was destroyed when a HAVOK nuclear device was detonated beneath it in order to destroy a Forerunner installation located underneath the city.
