Ignition is a faction-based RP set in 2558 after the events of Halo 4. Discussion for it can be found on the #Ignition IRC page.

Plot[]

After fighting off the second invasion of extraterrestrials in the Sol system in five years, the UNSC is in peril. With the Forerunner Prometheans arriving at Earth almost immediately after they had been discovered, compared to the 27 years it took for the Covenant to get to Earth, the high-ranking officials of the UNSC are left wondering what their next foes might be. In order to better protect themselves, UNSC High Command had decided that the best course of action would be to gain ground by recolonizing the territory that had been lost in the Human-Covenant War. The first part of this plan was to fortify the resource-rich Outer Colonies that had escaped the notice of the Covenant, as the Inner Colonies had all been glassed and the process of terraforming them was scheduled to take another three decades.

The Outer Colonies that did survive the war barely survived on their own. As the UNSC was too busy defending the planets close to Earth, it had left them largely to fend for themselves. The UNSC has very little presence at these worlds, and communicated very little with their colonial governments. Some of them had not been visited by a UNSC ship since the 2530s, and most of the colonists were not aware that the Human-Covenant War had even ended. This apparent abandonment has caused distrust of the UNSC to run high among the Outer Colonists, which now consider themselves self-governing worlds.

The Covenant, meanwhile, had dissolved into several different organizations, most notably the Swords of Sanghelios, the Servants of the Abiding Truth, and the Covenant Fundamentalists. Of the three, the UNSC has only officially recognized the Swords of Sanghelios as a political entity and is currently in a shaky alliance with them.

RP Mechanics[]

The RP will progress in a turn-based system. The starting order will be determined by a randomizer after each participant selects a faction, each of which will be assigned a number. Factions will have a system of research and points allocations, and as such they are limited to the technologies they can and cannot build based on this. For example, in a battle scenario between a UNSC exploratory fleet and an Outer Colonies defense fleet would have more advanced UNSC ships in combat against smaller, simpler Outer Colonies ships in greater numbers.

Each participant will select a faction they shall represent, and will assume the role of a leader in that faction. All factions will have major dedicated goals throughout the RP and a series of smaller goals that they will complete while trying to achieve their major goals. In addition to the larger goal-based system, participants will be allowed to create "directly controlled" characters within each of their factions to complement the overarching system. These characters will be allowed much higher levels of freedom with regards to the actions they can take; however, they also have their own unique limitations.

Faction Resources[]

Click here to be redirected to the resources page.

Rules[]

  1. All "directly controlled" characters must be original; i.e. a participant playing as the Swords of Sanghelios is not allowed to have Thel 'Vadam as a "directly controlled" character.
  2. No killing any "directly controlled" characters without their "controller's" permission.
  3. Resource limits must be strictly abided by at all times.
  4. The sizes of fleets, battalions, etc. must be explicitly stated and classified prior to any action they take.
  5. Participants can control multiple factions if they wish.

Factions[]

Note that participants in the RP are allowed to introduce their own factions.

UNSC[]

  • UNSCDF Defense Force (Agent Locke)
    • While the title seems redundant - the "DF" in "UNSCDF" stands for "Defense Force" - the role of the UNSCDF Defense Force is a rather important one. The UNSC Defense Force is responsible for defending the UNSC's sovereign territory from any enemy forces. As such, their warships tend to be more powerful than those of other branches of the UNSC.

ONI[]

  • Criminal Espionage Unit (IndyRevolution)
    • This branch takes a more "hands on" approach to handling criminal activity in the Outer Colonies. They utilize a series of singular agents and experimental technology in order to dismantle hostile organizations, though the agents can be re-purposed for other situations if necessary.

Lacking the sence of individuality the Hive Queens ordered a limited number of Unmutuals with specific talents to force to undergo cybernetic alterations so that they can functions as commanders for their armie and fleets.

Lead by the charismatic pirate prince, Jor Ruk, they strike with impunity and leave without a trace, taking a haul of loot and slaves with every raid. A blight on border colonies and a terror to shipping, he usually sells his services to the highest bidder, though he is most commonly contracted by ex-Covenant factions to attack their enemies.
      • Diplomatic Information at beginning of RP

  • The Alliance of the True Covenant (Sean4333 and Vessel Of War)
    • A loosely tied network of pirates, fanatics, and mercenaries, the Alliance of the True Covenant (Called the Alliance of Truth, or Alliance for short) has evolved from its original purpose. Once a confederation of Covenant members who refused to surrender with the rest of the forces, the Alliance of Truth now consists of many beings who have lost belief in the Covenant religion long ago. It now uses its name as a front for what it really is, an independently owned body that sides with the Covenant out of cowardice. While originally lead by Brutes, the Jackal members have since violently ceased control, with many Grunts left over as slaves.

User Date Announcement
Echowaffle8 25 February 2015 The following factions have yet to complete their Chapter 1 story: Alliance of the True Covenant, FaSUM, ONI Criminal Espionage, ONI Section Zero, Sangheili Special Warfare, and the UNSC Colonization Force.
Echowaffle8 15 March 2015 As I need to re-sort my priorities in order to keep my high grades in school during my final semester of high school, I've decided to take a break from Halo Fanon writing for the time being. This means Ignition will be put on hiatus, but don't worry - it should be starting again in late May.
Coolbuddy379 16 March 2015 We have a new goal now. We need to get the 'Best Collaboration of the Year' award with Ignition. It is a great RP and I think it is suitable for it. We need to work harder for the award. So, good luck to us all and hope we get the award.

Also, my situation is somewhat of Echowaffle's too. I have Final Examinations now and won't be able to continue the RP. Hopefully, that'll change after 20th March.
