The first Ragnarok Class Dreadnought, (aptly christened the Ragnarok) built by the Interspecies Union, was officially completed December 15th, 2573. It's maiden voyage began in dry dock from the Dark Space Shipyards, 1,000 light years from the edge of Milky Way, January 21st, 2574.
The maiden voyage ended at Earth, in which the ship was unveiled to the public to mass accolades and uproar. For some, this was seen as a great accomplishment, that humans had accomplished something great with aliens. For others, it meant we had accepted a small apology from the alien bastards who had slaughtered most of the human race.
On average, ships the size of Ragnarok Class Dreadnought usually have a low resource to kill ratio. Generally ships of this size are easily destroyed by smaller, cheaper forces.
The Ragnarok Class Dreadnought, however, combats that with massive defensive systems, with shields powerful enough to withstand several megaton blasts, and point laser defense systems that can track and destroy over 400 missiles and other slow projectiles within a 1.5 kilometer radius. It is less effective against plasma projectiles, but it can weaken them.
Unfortunately, the Ragnarok cannot enter any atmosphere or sink in to to far of a gravity well. Else it would never be able to pull itself out.
The Archer missiles are a revamped version of the old, using a mini-hydrogen based fusion warhead, each one has a kiloton yield. This does, however, double the cost of each Archer missile.
Slipspace travel is much faster in this ship, as the fusion core is the largest and most powerful power plant ever built by humans. The Shaw-Fujikawa drive itself can charge and transfer the ship to slipspace in under a minute. This has been achieved by the introduction of recently discovered Forerunner technology, which has not been used widely. At 100% speed, the Ragnarok can travel at 1,126 light years per day.
Ragnarok Dreadnoughts are encased in a minimum of four meters of Titanium-A armor.
The Ragnarok Dreadnought has a wide armament. It is built around two MAC cannons arranged like a two-barreled shotgun. Each one is capable of firing two MAC rounds per capacitor charge. Each one is 115% the size of normal MAC cannons on ships.
The Dreadnought is equipped with 1,000 Archer missile pods. Each one can be reloaded in twenty seconds, and the Ragnarok carries twenty reloads per Archer tube, making the total amount of missiles 21,000.
60 plasma batteries complement the human weapons. These are the first plasma weapons used on a UNSC ship.
Thirty Shiva Nuclear Warheads finish off the armament.
