Shizuko-D081 (Japanese Katakana/Kanji: シズ子), born Matsui Shizuko and known as Codename: HOLLOW WOOD, is a SPARTAN-III commando who trained with the illicit SPARTAN-III Delta Company from a young age. The older sister to fellow Delta Company graduate Daiki-D217, Shizuko received high praise as one of the best trainees in her training class, becoming a talented combatant with nearly any weapon at her disposal as well as a cautious leader who vowed to keep her Spartan team, Fireteam Focus, safe.
Born within a refugee camp on the colony world of Minister, Shizuko lived a poor, harsh existence as discrimination and discontent grew between the planet's original colonists and the battle-worn refugees. The sectional discontent took a great personal toll on Shizuko's family, ending in tragedy. As the tensions reached their peak after the Covenant's victory at Reach, recruiters from the Office of Naval Intelligence whisked Shizuko and her brother to the secret planet of Argus V to become Spartans supersoldiers.
Unlike her sibling, Shizuko-D081 was an early standout among Delta Company and her compassion made her a role model, later, a fireteam leader. Graduating from SPARTAN-III Delta Company, Shizuko and Fireteam Focus deployed on a frontier assignment to chase after Covenant extremists when a mission turned south and her entire unit died in combat except her. ONI reassigned Shizuko to their Headhunter Division as an individual operative to provide support to other Headhunter units and carry out highly sensitive combat operations. To avoid her grief, Shizuko threw herself into her missions and developed the habit of maxing out her time in cryostasis.

The child of a refugee couple on the colony Minister and the eldest sibling of three, Matsui Shizuko or "Shizuko-D081" grew up in a rough environment and persevered through tragedy. She is a graduate of SPARTAN-III DELTA COMPANY, the former fireteam leader of Spartan Unit FOCUS, and older sister to fellow SPARTAN-III and deserter, Daiki-D217. She was an early standout and considered a role model to her peers by many instructors as noted by her compassion for her training and her peers. Shizuko is talented behind the sights of almost any weapon placed in her hands and enjoys weapon familiarization and experimentation to a great degree. The tragic loss of her unit weighs hard on her, developing into a standoffish personality and a habitual preference for staying in cryogenic stasis to avoid grief. She's currently serving with ONI's version of SPARTAN HEADHUNTERS.
