[edit] Overview

The D41-TC Snowhawk Dropship is a tiltmotor aircraft that combines the vertical takeoff, hover, and vertical landing, also known as VTOL.It also retains the long-range, fuel efficiency and speed characteristics of a turboprop aircraft. Its mission is to conduct long-range infiltration, exfiltration and resupply missions for special operations forces.

[edit] Specifications

[edit] Design

This versatile, self-deployable aircraft offers increased speed and range over the D77-TC Pelican, enabling UNSC Infantrymen to execute long-range special operations missions. The D41-TC can perform missions that normally would require both fixed-wing and Motor-wing aircraft. The D41-TC takes off vertically and, once airborne, the nacelles (engine and prop-motor group) on each wing can rotate into a forward position

[edit] System Modifications

The D41-TC is equipped with integrated threat countermeasures, terrain-following radar, forward-looking infrared sensor, and other advanced avionics systems that allow it to operate at low altitude in adverse weather conditions and medium- to high-threat environments.

[edit] Armaments

The D41-TC is considered to be more of an infiltrator dropship rather than a gunship. It utilizes less armaments for defence, replying on pure speed to escape out of troubles.

Similar to the D77-TC Pelican, it has a chin mounted 70mm Chain Gun for defence and also offence. The D41-TC also utilizes the standard wing mounted ANVIL-II ASM/AGM Pods, capable of releasing 12 M71 RHAM 20mm Shells towards the target with the reload capacity of 3. An optional armament is the AIE-486H HMG or M247 GPMG which can be mounted at the side entry, allowing a full 160o of counter-attack.

[edit] UNSC Remarks

"We need something faster than the Pelican. Any ideas on what to name the new vehicle?"

"Pelican and Snowhawk should make babies together. That way, we could have the PeliHawk or SnowCan...uh...maybe just PeliHawk..."

"Who needs a gunship when we're conducting a covert operation?"
