"Bring forth the storm"
―Admiral Korolyov ordering the Thor-class Cruisers of the 8th fleet to press forwards.

The UNSC Thor was a replacement for the ageing Marathon and the even older Halcyon cruisers. It was designed in keeping with what human and Sangheili tacticians imagined for the future of warefare. Columns of human vessels exchanging MAC rounds with Remnant broadsides. The Thor was designed to support this, bringing in two Heavy MAC guns for engaging and destroying Covenant capital ships at range. While it couldn't go toe with the popular CCS-class it could, with frigate and or destroyer support, destroy them with group tactics. The vessel, like many human heavy capital ships, had a slim profile and linear mounted MAC guns. Unlike the previous generation of cruisers, like the Halcyon and Marathon class, it did not have a 'column' design, and was more similar to the Heimdall-class Frigate, with a long slim profile then bulked out launch bays, manoeuvring engines and engine shields.

The ship carried an incredibly potent forward fire capability, only outmatched by battleships. It has two forward facing heavy magnetic accelerators, five forward facing heavy turrets and a maximum of 16 Hailstorm and 4 Hellstorm cannons facing forward at any time, along with a number of forward facing Archer batteries. This allows it to preform exceedingly well as a frontal assault ship, with enough armour and shielding to survive enemy barrages. It is used to provide the main offensive fire power of a UNSC Battlegroup, Being used to face enemy cruisers head on, allowing destroyers to mass their fire power.

The cruiser can also be used for reinforcement and armoured deployments, able to deploy marine special forces with it. Massed squadrons are also used to break battle lines at major fleet engagements, with massed groups capable of knocking much larger warships out of action.

Nemesis-class Cruiser

The Nemesis-class Cruiser was a subclass of the Thor-class. The class was aesthetically the same as the Thor-class, but had an W/AS M21A 'Tsunami' DIC replacing one of its two MAC guns. This subclass was employed extensively during the middle stages of the Necros War.

Artemis-class Cruiser

The Artemis-class Cruiser was a subclass of the Thor-class. The class was aesthetically the same as the Thor-class, but had a pair of W/AS M21A 'Tsunami' DICs replacing both of its MAC guns. This subclass was employed extensively during the latter stages of the Necros War.

UNSC Comments

"She looks like a smoother Marathon-class and she's alot faster and boy does she back a punch."

"Gone are the days of frigates and destroyers incapacitating our mightiest vessels!"
