The T1 D77H-TCI Pelican Assault and Dropship is a modified Pelican dropship first used by SPARTAN-116. Its extra features that differentiated it from a standard D77H TCI Pelican are derived from Covenant ships.

Features

The Pelican is described as an angular black ship, and is very well-armed for a dropship. It has energy shields to protect its tempered Titanium-A hull, and is adjustable so the shields don't have to be completely deactivated when firing weapons. The dropship can cloak and surpass speeds a normal Pelican cannot achieve without suffering damage. Its wings are slim at the edges, and its four missile loaders are kept close to the hull and covered by flaps to maintain the Pelican's streamlined travel capabilities.

Armament

The Prototype Pelican's weapons are also powerful. Apart from the standard 70mm chaingun, the Anvil-II ASM missiles were replaced by more efficient 86mm M11 missiles. The pods are linked directly to the ship, and has a self-reloading system rather than a launcher in two rows of tubes, so they don't have to be replaced after ever firing.

The T1 Pelican's weapon batteries can last a long time, and are connected to its dual laser cannons, similar to that fired from a Spartan Laser. The cannons can be charged up and cooled much more quickly. Additionally, an M8 Gauss Turret is mounted in the cargo bay where the usual .50 calibre cannon is.

Usage

The T1 Pelican was first used by SPARTAN-116 to rescue Spartan Blue Team from the Shield World of Onyx. During this, it became under severe attack by Sentinels, but its energy shields protected the dropship from damage. Later, it had been under attack by three Forerunner fighter ships. The Pelican was shot by an ion bolt, but it only took down the shields (although the Forerunners may have underestimated the efficiency of the Pelican), and managed to damage one with its laser cannons at point blank range. Afterward, it was used by Hocus on Eridanus II to escort the Spartans around. On Reach, SPARTAN-116 flew the dropship to Oberion's fortress when a large number of Flood Predator Forms attacked, which crashed into a number of trees before it finally gave and split the cockpit in half.

The T1 was put in to mass production in 2565 as a replacement to the old Pelican.

Stealth Capabilities

As of 2576, the T1 dropship has been outfitted with an experimental active camouflage generator, rendering it invisible to almost every form of detection. Special heating methods allow it to channel thermal energy in to a small geothermal power plant, and radiation sinks made of a super-dense material absorb the energy of alpha, beta, and gamma particles to minimize the emission of radiation. With these new capabilities the T1 Pelican is invisible to the naked eye, RADAR, LIDAR, X-ray, motion detectors, UV, and the thermal signature is small enough to mix in with most background heat and radiation. Detecting the thermal signature of the T1 requires high-precision and a cold environment. The only sensors that have a high chance of detection are special high-frequency sensors able to detect electrical waves and experimental space-time distortion sensors.

Sensors

The sensors on the T1 have been redesigned for the new stealth capabilities, as the SPECTER material prevents the old setup from working properly.

The new system laces the SPECTER material with sensors designed to detect light like the old sensors did, but still reflect the waves exactly like the surrounding material.
