- "I did chance upon a yonder land, seduced by fruit of beckon, drawn into the midnight rapture, I glimpsed beyond the veil's azure."
- ―Of Midwinter Zephyr, by Anonymous
It is the seventh stealth frigate manufactured by the UNSC Navy, and an extensively-modified guided missile frigate (FFG) with enhanced stealth characteristics and diminished armaments and velocity, specifically created for stealth warfare and intelligence gathering purposes. It draws significant characteristics from the acknowledged archetype of stealth frigates, the UNSC Behind in Twilight.
It would be first led by Commodore Elaine Lujayne, Director of Operations of the UNSC Department of Strategic Intelligence, and later by Brevet Captain Evelyn Lake, and would be a principal command vessel of the CAM-327-17 Task Force that would participate extensively in the Memory Crisis.
Behind the Scenes
- The UNSC Beyond Veil's Azure in Halo: Memory was originally the destroyer UNSC Gemini.
- The UNSC Beyond Veil's Azure was not named after the fictitious poem Of Midwinter Zephyr. It was created by writers RelentlessRecusant and Dragonclaws; RelentlessRecusant would suggest the words "beyond", "azure", and "veil", and Dragonclaws would rearrange them to the UNSC Beyond Veil's Azure. Afterwards, RelentlessRecusant would write Of Midwinter Zephyr as a pretext for the vessel's name.
