History[]

The Claritatis was manufactured in 2549 CE, during the Human-Covenant war, and placed under the command of Captain Steven Perez. It was then attached to the UNSC 8th Fleet, which was in dire need of new ships at the time. The ship never received any special refits or upgrades, and instead was repaired and numerous occasions during skirmishes with Covenant ships that it some times engaged in hit-and run assaults. These attacks were somewhat successful and a little crippling to the Covenant navy. The Claritatis destroyed several Covenant Frigates that were usually escorting groups of agri-cultural ships, some which, the Claritatis also destroyed. The ship continued to harras the Covenant throughout the entire war. In 2552, when Reach was attacked, the Claritatis was one of the numerous ships called to the planet's defense. Unlike most of the UNSC fleets and armies on Reach, the Claritatis escaped the catastrophic battle. Captain Perez and about half of his crew survived with extensive ship damage in most areas. But the crew took some comfort in the knowledge that they had taken out at least three or four Covenant ships, and helped disable several more. The ship went straight for Earth, where it fought and survived the First and Second Battles of Earth. The crew of the Claritatis were hailed as heroes, and the ship became an inspiration to any future UNSC Navy cadet.
