UNSC Embers[]
During the first five years of war against the Covenant Empire, the political and military leaders of the UNSC, in a unanimous decision commissioned the production of over 50,000 Atmospheric-to-Exoatmospheric Military Vehicles, 3 which were from newly proposed projects. Thousands of redesigned parts and weapons composed the innards of the next generation of Military Vessels, including once cancelled 2511 program Project: Embers. The UNSC Embers was designed as a testbed for numerous prototype weapons systems, and as such featured a adaptable structural design. This allowed the Embers class to be prepared for multiple combat scenarios that would normally require specialized craft. For example, in 2530, during the Battle for Harvest, the UNSC fitted CFG-13 with 12 120mm HE Cannons, 35 Saigon Archer-H Hellfire Missile Pods, and 54 Ultra-Condensed Archer-G Missile Pods. In synchronization with CFG-09, and FFG-419, CFG-13 provided devastating ground support while the Embers served as an aerial base, and a groundside base of operations. Fitted with topside landing pads, enlarged hangar bays and landing equipment and materials reminiscent of those used on refitted Phoenix-class vessels, the Battlegroup fought for over one week without resupply, fighting a war without a front against the Covenant until Cole's fleet arrived. As a Combat Vessel, the Embers normally featured redundant but effective loadouts, maximizing archer missile capacity and armor while maintaining a decent support role. The Embers Cruisers frequently traveled in "wolf packs", with numerous specialized variants allowing the Battlegroup to maintain adaptability and survivability during dangerous patrols, though they are usually supported by UNSC Destroyers. |
