The UNSC Lost a Fin is a vessel of the UNSC Office of Naval Intelligence.
It is is named after lost-a-fin (laf), a zebrafish Alk8-/- mutant that displays antagonized ventral specification in embryonic development because of an inability to receive and transduce extracellular bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signals that control dorso-ventral axis patterning.[1][2]
