Cannon Hard points

The UNSC make use of a series of modular hard points for air craft, with three distinct sizes based on ring mounts on the gunships. These weapon systems mounts utilise a simple ring mount with power, electronic and ammo mounts, allowing any system to be adjusted to any number of weapon systems. All weapon systems use shared targeting software to allow them to interface with on board systems and adjustable ammunition feeds to allow them to fit multiple ammunition feeds.

Light

  • M638 Anti-Personnel Weapon/Automatic Cannon: The M638 APW/AC is a automatic cannon utilising 20mm caseless shells and a powered recoil action. The cannon can be set to five round bursts or full automatic fire. The cannon is set up for dual feeds and can be fed linkless belts. It usually takes a mixture of HEDP and HEI rounds, giving it a deadly punch against infantry or armour, and can be set to take mixed feeds, or switch solely to one magazine.
  • Weapon/Anti-Vehicle Model 6B1 Grindell/Galilean Nonlinear Rifle: The W/AV M6B1 G/GNR, more commonly referred to as the Spartan LASER, gives small aircraft deadly punch against much tough armour units, allowing them to effectively engage and destroy armour, especially from long range. It is fed from two high power batteries that fit in the vehicle's ammunition feed, that allow it to sustain higher rates of fire than the infantry mount version. It features all the electronic systems of the original, including self adjusting frequency and motorised gun cover. The LASER also has dazzling and anti-infantry power settings, though these settings can be sustained for three second bursts, allowing it to strafe infantry.
  • M460C1 Automatic Grenade Launcher. The M460C1 AGL is a 40mm grenade launcher utilising high rates of fire to engage and destroy light targets and infantry. Though it has short range, it does have many optional explosive rounds and the option for dual feeds, as well as options for using one magazine alone, or using both at the same time. The AGL is usually equipped with a mixture of HE and HEDP rounds. The gunner can also designate the rounds to air burst one metre from a solid object, allowing him to accurately engage forces in cover.
  • AIE-486I1 Heavy Machine Gun: The AIE-486I1 HMG, more commonly referred to as the 'Eye-Eye' set up makes use of 7.62 minigun with high rates of fire and high accuracy, making it deadly accurate against infantry. Its often used when focusing on a mainly infantry force, or engaging in areas where low collateral damage is required. It features dual feeding mechanisms, with pilot options for feeding from one magazine or both. It usually comes in hopper mixtures of SAP and FMJ, in strictly anti-infantry engagements, or FMJ and HE for operating against infantry and light armour.

Medium

  • M41B2 Light Anti-Infantry Gun: The M41B2 LAIG is an adaptation of the .50 calibre gatling gun used on The Warthog LRV. The gun utilises large 12.7mm rounds and a rotating three barrelled assembly. The gun is fitted for using dual feed mechanisms, allowing it to adapt to fire from one feed, or two at once. The gun is also fitted with on-board stabilizers, making it extremely stable under fully automatic fire. It is usually fed with a mixture of FMJ and HE rounds for engaging infantry, or FMJ and HEI for engaging light armour.
  • M1024C Anti-Armour/Personnel Weapon/Automatic Cannon: The M1024C AA/PW/AC is a universally used 30mm autocannon, referred to more commonly as the 'Misriah Gun'. The cannon is used against both infantry and medium armour, being highly adapted for engaging both. It has the option for taking dual feeds and can choose to fire from one or both internal magazines. The gun features a stabilizer to allow it to fire accurately under fully automatic fire. It is usually fed with a mixture of HEDP and HEI rounds to allow it to engage all targets efficiently.
  • M45 Anti-Armour/Personnel Weapon/Rotary Automatic Cannon: The M45 AA/PW/RAC is a 20mm rotary cannon used for engaging light armour and infantry. It uses dual feed technology allowing it to pick and choose from one of it's two magazines, or use both at the same time. As well as this, it utilises a on-board stabilizer to ensure it is accurate, even under fully automatic fire. It is usually armed with a mixture of HEDP and HEI.
  • M68A3 Asynchronous Linear-Induction Motor: The M68A3 ALIM is a gauss gun usually found on Warthogs. The gun is used to destroy medium to heavy armour with deadly accuracy, or engaging heavy infantry. The M68A3 can be fitted with dual feeds, allowing it to choose between two separate magazines, or both and utilises its own on-board power supply. It is usually fitted with KCP (TC) and KPI slus.
  • M68B1 Asynchronous Linear-Induction Motor: The M68B1 ALIM is the replacement for the M68A3.
  • M249 Anti-Armour Weapon/Rail Gun: The M249 AAW/RG is a 30mm railgun, with a moderate rate of fire and high damage output, making it excellent for engaging enemy armour. The gun is fully stabilized, with dual feeds and its own on-board power supply.
  • XM300 30mm Anti-Armour Weapon/Automatic Rail Gun: The XM300 AAW/ARG is a automatic rail gun used against both

infantry and armour, to deadly effect. The gun is fitted with stabilizers and dual feeds, allowing it to choose between two separate magazines, or both and utilises its own on-board power supply. It is usually fitted with KCP (TC) and KPI slus.

Heavy

  • M309B Anti-Armour Weapon/Automatic Cannon: The M309B AAW/AC is a 40mm autocannon, with fully stabilized gun, dual ammunition feeds and thermal barrel jacket. The gun is capable of maintaining a moderate rate of fire and effectiveness versus medium armour and infantry formations.
  • M891B Anti-Armour Weapon/Automatic Cannon: The M891B AAW/AC is a 70mm autocannon used for engaging medium to heavy armour, with repeated strikes capable of penetrating enemy tanks. The gun is fully stabilized and can be fitted with dual ammunition feeds.
  • M701 Anti-Armour/Personnel Weapon/Rotary Automatic Cannon: The M701 AA/PW/RAC is a 30mm rotary cannon used as a multi-purpose weapon, designed to destroy enemy armour and infantry, being an effective multipurpose weapon against most targets. It is capable of destroying most medium to heavy armour with concentrated fire and can shred exposed infantry.
  • M76 Asynchronous Linear-Induction Motor: The M76 ALIM is a 30mm Gauss Gun, usually mounted on medium armour. It is used to hunt down enemy armour, being accurate and powerful enough to destroy medium and heavy armour. The gun is fully stabilized, with dual feeds and its own on-board power supply.

Door Gun Subsystem

Most dropships feature door gun positions to allow those inside to fire out to provide cover fire to embarking or disembarking troops and to allow crew members to preform strafing attacks, or simply fend off airborne threats. The system uses a universal weapons mount, shared by the standard tripod issued with many heavy weapons. The guns often fold away into expecting overhangs or recesses on the vehicle and utilise stabilizers on the weaon mount to absorb the majority of the recoil produced by the guns and provide a steady firing platform.

  • M460C Automatic Grenade Launcher: The M460C AGL is a belt fed 40mm grenade launcher used to engage and destroy light armour and exposed infantry, with the option for airbursting. The grenade launcher is extremely deadly against anything in the blast radius.
  • AIE-486I Heavy Machine Gun: The AIE-486I HMG can be fitted to provide heavy amounts of suppressive fire against infantry, being deadly against infantry in the open and in cover and even being effectively against unarmoured vehicles. The sheer volume of fire is enough to make most infantry seek cover.
  • M247H2 Heavy Machine Gun: The M247H2 HMG is a 12.7mm machine gun designed to engage both infantry and light armour. It is accurate and deadly and often can cause sufficient damage to light vehicles to immobilise or destroy them.
  • M11 Light Automatic Cannon: The M11 LAC is a 15mm autocannon that is exceedingly dangerous against heavy infantry and light vehicles, being more than capable of clearing an entire LZ in a short amount of time.
