The Unggoy Carbine is a version of the Covenant Carbine used by the Unggoy Seperatists. The main differences are as shorted barrel with use by Grunts in mind and a single shot plasma grenade launcher under the barrel.
Shortly after the Grunt Rebels aboard the Diving Transendece established their new homeworld, New Balaho, the Unggoy began working on modifying the captured armaments aboard the Divine Transendence for easier use by their race. One of these weapons was the Unggoy Carbine, which is basically a Covenant Carbine with with the original barrel replaced with a shorter on and a one shot plasma grenade launcher under the barrel. The first test of the Unggoy Carbine in battle was in 2552, when a Covenant Loyalist Fleet made a blind slipspace jump to escape a pursuing UNSC-Covenant Seperatist combined fleet. By chance, the Brute ships, quickly followed by the UNSC-Seperatist forces, exited slipspace near new Balaho. In the battle that followed, the Unggoy Carbine proved effective in land battles and boarding action. Much to the amazement of the Brutes and the Grunt's new allies, the UNSC and Covenant Seperatists, the Unggoy Carbine and in particular the underbarrel plasma grenade launcher, enabled squads of Unggoy to sucessfully decimate entire squads of Brutes. The usual tactic used with the Unggoy Carbine was to fire the Plasma Grenade Launcher into the Brute horde, often killing up to half the Brutes and de-shielding many of the others before finishing off the enemy with the rifle. The Unggoy Carbine, all in all, proved to be an effective weapon that, along with other Unggoy Seperatist weapons such as the Plasma SAW and energy shielded Unggoy armor, helped the Grunts triunph over superior Brute forces.
The Plasma Grenade Launcher
The underbarrel plasma grenade launcher is a one shot underbarrel grenade launcher similar to the XM-450 and M456 of the UNSC, but is fires a plasma grenade instead of a frag. The projectile is driven by a magnetic acceleration system similar to UNSC MAC guns and Covenant Plasma weapons. The magnetic accecleration system keeps the projectile levitated a few millimeters above the bottom of the barrel, thus preventing the problem of the plasma grenade sticking to the bottom of the barrel, like in the original Plasma Grenade Launcher. The projectile itself is a standard plasma grenade, the same one as the hand-thrown variety, with a set of clip-on metal fins made of a magnetic alloy for stabalization in flight and to aid in the magnetic propulsion of the projectile.
