The VORON/Orion Special Operations Detatchment or V-SOD is part of V/ORION's Objective Forces Project. V-SOD's main purpose is to serve as a Special Operations unit, with soldiers excelling in infiltration and direct combat. While the ORION III Project has changed from its role as a S-Cell unit to a Direct Combat Unit, V-SOD Operators are still highly trained for stealth operations such as the original ORION II or Even PROJECT: ORION operations.

V-SOD had contributed immensly to the war effort. V-SOD's O2/O3 Soldiers currently hold the highest kill count in the UNSC due to the detonation of the Misriah Complex's HAVOK, SHIVA, and finally NOVA Nuclear WMDs.

V-SOD has been active since 2548, during the activation of the ORION II Project, and has continued to Operate throughout the UNSC-Exile War.

V-SOD Teams typically consist of 6 Members, and are usually sent in place of larger, main V/ORION units such as Shadow Company. They are sent in to infiltrate a position instead of the UNSC launching a large scale attack, V-SOD Teams are usually insufficient in eliminating large numbers of hostiles without special equipment such as explosives or armored vehicles, as they will almost certainly be outnumbered and overrun. V-SOD's typical objective is to infiltrate enemy lines, and sabatoge or eliminate key objectives in order to allow UNSC forces to launch an attack or eliminating Targets Of Value.
