[edit] Overview
The Yikyrel I Corvette was the first of their contributions to the Covenant Empire. Although not wholly remarkable in its offensive capabilities, the Yikyrel quickly became known as a blockade runner that would primarily take on the responsibility of both a refugee transport and special ops carrier for planetary and asteroid incursions. Foremost, the Yikyrel was notable for its speed and manoeuvrability, and at the cost of cargo space, it could carry and perform maintenance to a single fighter wing, (5 starfighters/bombers approx) or be outfitted with two vertical shaft tearis/concussion missile bays or two shatterpoint/plasma torpedo bays. The later proved instrumental in tactical raids within the Gaurov Graveyard and Quenari Nebula, as the corvette was proposed by a commander to be involved in guerilla tactics against the overwhelmingly numerical advantage of the Loyalist there. It was then in the last years of the galactic war that the Yikyrel was fashioned as a forward command vessel that could sneak bombing squadrons across large expanses of space, and coordinate their efforts with minimal detection.

[edit] Covenant Civil War
The Yikyrel I Corvette was refitted by the Covenant Reformist. At the time this ship was introduced to their list of achievements, the faction was facing a difficult relationship with the Old Covenant. Their strong moral opposition to the declaration of war against the Covenant Separatists brought the company under a false terrorism spotlight that saw most of their viable assets seized, not long after the Sanghelios Massacre. Following the orders of the Old Covenant to claim large resource investments in strategic areas for their war effort, the Separatists stationed there had quickly blockaded the moon’s orbit and forced its occupants to seek refuge into its underground mines, from the consortium’s bombing raids upon the moon’s surface.
[edit] End Game
Fortunately, not far from this, a small military convoy, loyal to the Loyalist and en route with a frigate carrying refugees, on the corner of the Gladius quadrant, was able to receive an SOS from one of the moon’s drifting satellites. A decisive battle was insured against the Separatist invaders, and the people still alive on Gladius V were finally liberated from their plight. They then allied themselves with their saviours and offered their sworn support towards their efforts thereafter.
[edit] Specifications
Yet without these bays, the corvette still sported 3 automated Point-Defence Cannons, for sufficient use in missile/torpedo-interceptions, and 5 Gatling Plasma Cannons to repel light starfighter attacks. Included with a single deflector shield for moderate defense, it assured the vessel enough time to escape risky situations, and even without it, the hull was considered durable enough to sustain extensive damage, but could easily be breached by a torpedo strike. A special reconnaissance version of the corvette was also made and would eventually replace the older models, as its communications array was considered on par with smaller capital ships, for carrying out stealth operations, and issuing orders to flight squadrons and ground troops from orbit and idle, underwater locations.
